The history
From historic nursery
to modern educational hub
A project that combines local history, educational innovation, and social commitment for local families and the children of Azimut Yachts employees.
At the end of 2024, the historic Picco Nursery in Avigliana, active since 1871, was at risk of closure due to falling enrolments and compromised structural conditions. The Paolo Vitelli Foundation chose to intervene, supporting a project for the rebirth and transformation of the School into a modern Educational Hub catering for more than 100 children from 3 months to 6 years old.
THE INTERVENTIONS
Spaces, furnishings, and educational project
In addition to the complete redevelopment of the spaces, the renewal of the furnishings, and the enhancement of the garden with an educational kitchen garden to bring little ones closer to nature, the Foundation financed the update of the school’s educational project according to the most modern pedagogical practices.

How it works
THE Call for Proposals
The annual call for proposals through which the Foundation supports projects promoted by other non-profit organisations active in the Turin area. Sogni e Sorrisi is designed for non-profit organisations operating in Turin to combat vulnerability and promote quality, inclusive, and accessible educational opportunities.
The Foundation believes that change is built together: this is why it supports those already present in the neighbourhoods, who know the real needs and have the ability to transform them into concrete actions.

OTHER PROJECTS WE SUPPORT
Alongside the Sogni e Sorrisi Call for Proposals, the Foundation supports ongoing projects at national and international level.
Paolo Vitelli Foundation is a supporting partner of:
AIEF Foundation
A Third Sector entity active in the Turin suburbs, it operates through two sites: the Lucento Castle and the AIEF Centre in Mirafiori. The Paolo Vitelli Foundation, together with other local partners, contributed to the redevelopment of these places, supporting AIEF in the process that turned them into multifunctional hubs for the community. The two sites, located in the north and south of the city, host educational, social, and cultural interventions aimed at children, adolescents, and families, promoting paths of inclusion, support, and prevention of hardship, in well-maintained environments rich in opportunities for growth and learning.
Thanks to the support of the Paolo Vitelli Foundation, AIEF strengthens: projects that welcome adolescents between 10 and 18 years old, followed in network with the local child neuropsychiatry services and with the Regina Margherita Children’s Hospital; initiatives that promote the right to study, including the ‘Suspended Stationery’ Emporium at the AIEF Centre in Mirafiori which every year supports, by donating school materials, over 500 families with school-age children living in severe economic hardship.
Paolo Vitelli Foundation is a supporting partner of:
Comitato Roraima Onlus
In Brazil, where the Foundation supports the welfare initiatives of Brother Francesco D’Aiuto, within the framework of the Catadores Cooperative, the Projeto Legal and the humanitarian promotion projects coordinated by him in the locality of Santa Rita, fostering the social, economic, and cultural development of local communities.
